I would be tempted but I'm not sure of the legality of shipping plant material from FL even if I'm not selling it. I think to be legal I would have to register as a nursery which would have some cost to it. Another shipping option that might work to your advantage. If you and the person you are trading with were to both ship via the priority mail flat rate then the shipping costs would be even and that might make things a little simpler. A lot of seeds can fit into a flat rate box. Living plants are a little trickier but quite possible for some. Hum, would you be interested in a box of worm castings in exchange for a box of the bat guano?

Consider joining the North American Native Plant Society. Despite the name (it was formerly the Canadian Wildflower Society), it has largely Canadian members and has an annual, by mail, seed exchange for members. Anyone can buy seed (nominal cost to cover mailing) but donors get a special deal. Members across Canada collect seed and mail it to NANPS who then publish a list of available seed. Hi again we had a good turnout for the Bobcaygeon plant sale. Luckily I was able to get some plants for the first annual Kawartha plant swap plus lots of other goodies from my own gardens.
