do you have a favorite tea or herb for when you get a back ache?

Tea?

The best way to avoid back aches is to strengthen the abdominal muscles with exercise.

lazygardens is correct...I thought this was macho bodybuilder talk till I actually tried it-I got tired of my back hurting every single day!

For now, soaking in a warm bath with epsom salts might help, it helps me when I have sore muscles.

Well here's a pic of them outside yesterday. They are now in the house in front of every available window space. DH just shook his head and said "why?" I said "cause I could" he said "but what do you think you're going to do with all of these?" I said "I don't know. I just want to see them bloom so I know what they all look like!" I got tired at the end so some of the cups have two seedlings in them, and the ones that are still in the window box and the ones at the bottom of the picture are all the ones from the pod off of Appleblossom. The thing that kills me about the Appleblossom seedlings is that AB is my least favorite amaryllis. I was ready to give my two ABs away last year. Go figure. I hope the seedlings don't look just like AB because it was selfed. I'll be disappointed if they just look like AB.

Ahh, A boat ride. I was blessed with a note in my mailbox that someone needed help clearing out a garden and to bring your shovel and pails. I did. She wanted it all gone, granted she had about five other gardens, even more full. But she was moving and wanted this garden gone. I took a lot and came back the next day to clear the rest. I spent a good 4-5 hours sunday planting the 100+ asiatic lilies, columbine, phlox, daylily varieties. This garden fairy godmother also split some praire smoke, pasque, saxigragia, yarrow, delphinium, husker red, iris, and others! I had an area 80 feet wide by 10 feet deep to fill and this gave me a great start, since we have a very big lot which we had to scrape nearly clean since it was so overgrown(mostly by perennial weeds)! Unfortunately I was not able to get the names for many of the plants, or in the hurriedness they fell off when I could. But nevertheless, it was great! I then took some advil and we went out on our boat for a ride. I was hoping to tan my face so that not just the back of my neck is tan from looking down in the garden. Iced coffe sounds good, I bought a latte before and couln't take another drink, I heated up too much! great string! Holly

Thanks, Ingrid. Overall it's more white. See Mme. Joseph Schwartz below..it's mostly white but gets those delicate blushes of pink. I tend to take pictures when they have a blush of pink. I had a friend in 4th grade whom I was out of touch with for a long time, then we started exchanging Christmas cards and news. Her ex mother-in-law was named Mrs. Joseph Schwartz and as they were on good terms i sent her a rose of that name.

Also stretching can help....there are lots of stretches for the back. Also, it might be good to wonder why you are suffering the backache...and try to counteract it.

Can't recommend a tea, but for relief of sore muscles I get homeopathic: arnica montana pellets 30X strength (either hold them under the tongue until they dissolve or put them on the tongue, close the mouth and roll them all around 'til they dissolve). They are very safe & last time I moved, my moving day helper & I took some as preventive. The next day neither of us were sore (she's out-of-shape in her mid-50's & I have 3-1/2 ruptured discs...).

Topically, the arnica montana gel or ointment lovingly massaged onto the sore parts also helps. And rubbing on st. john's wort infused oil mixed with wintergreen essential oil will also bring some relief.

HTH if you don't already have strong muscles.

I have serious injuries from a car accident and in spite of good chiropractic care, I suffer from back pain. Many a morning, I would be unable to get out of bed if I did not know how to relieve back pain and spams fast. The easiest way is to use reflexology which is also called shiatsu or acupressure. It uses the same points on your body as acupuncture, but you only apply pressure rather than using needles. Look in the library for a book on hand reflexology which is easier to administer than foot reflexology. Find the chart which shows where the spine runs along your thumb. Press on the sore points on that line on both hands, and you will be rid of your back pain in a few minutes.

Sorry, I really should draw a picture and scan it and also write out the directions. Until I get around to it, you will have to find the directions in a book.
