Cucumber Problem, Disease, Fungus ?????

I planted cucumber plants from 2-3 different sources and some of the plants are producing cucumbers that appear different than any I've ever seen before. The problem is with the skin, once peeled, the cucumbers taste great. This will sound strange, but it is the best way I can describe it: The skin appears to have been coated with a thin layer of varnish when the cuke was small, then as it grew, the varnish cracked all over it with spots of good skin showing between the varnish-like, rough, cracked, light brown, skin coating. Is this a type of disease or fungus that I'm not familiar with? Should I pull these plants before they cross-contaminate my other cucumber plants? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!!!! :-)
