The Birds and the Bees

Ok. This may sound dumb but why aren't my plants growing any new fruit/veggies? Out of three tomato plants that I have had for 2 or 3 weeks, none have started to grow new tomatoes.... They are doing great, the plants themselves are growing but no new tomatoes... Only the two tomatoes that have been present since the plants were purchased are maturing.

The Banana pepper plant is the same way... Flowers, plenty of them... but no more fruit, just the one maturing banana pepper that was already started when I bought the plant...

Do the flowers need to be polinated? And if so was it a mistake for me to squish the small ants that were crawling all over the banana pepper plant? (I read on a related post that ants help polinate when Bees are not around). So... If the plants do need to be polinated, how do I go about encouraging this... I have seen little to no bees in the area I have moved into. Plenty of ants though lol.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I'm just being impatient? haha.
