cantelope in raised flower bed?

I'm pretty new to gardening, so forgive my ignorance. I tried planting some herbs in an indoor planter, and I used compost to plant. Well, oops, I've got some sprouts that aren't my herbs. I've determined that they are either pumpkin, or cantelope. From the pics I can find online, they look more like cantelope. Well, I don't have a garden area in the new house I just moved into, and I was wondering if I could put them in a raised flower bed?

I'm in southeast virginia, and we are past last frost date here. If I put them outside, will they survive? My raised bed is about 12 feet long, by 2 feet wide.
