HAVE: Lots of purple coneflower seeds

I'm now drying out 40-50 heads of coneflower seeds, so will have plenty to trade by the weekend. If you'd like to trade for some, let me know. I have plenty of black-eyed susans, spiderwort, and queen anne's lace, so tempt me with anything other than those, and you'll probably have yourself a trade!

Please, no requests for SASBE's unless I've already traded with you. Also, I'm going to limit the number of trades to three per person. That way, I can give seeds to a greater number of people. Each trade will contain all the seeds from one head of the flower, so that'll be enough to start a good patch of coneflowers for anyone.

And finally, if you'd like to trade, leave a note here on this thread, AND e-mail me with your offer.

Well... it looks like SOMEONE just had a birthday!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

I'm interested in the coneflower and spiderwort. Check my page and see if anything jumps at ya :) I'm out of the Candy Mtn, but will have more in about 2wks.

HI, I'd like to get some coneflower and especially sweet peas. I have not been successful with coneflower trades, so I'm hoping these would work. I can offer some pink salvia and yellow "tickseed" coreopsis - here in LA they are perennials but I think they are really self-seeding annuals. Let me know if any interest, thanks, JL

Echinacea will normally take 10-20 days to germinate at 65-70F (18-21C) - cooler or warmer may take longer. I think your climate is approximately a Z8 and the plants may do better outside than inside over winter with low or inadequate light. You don't need to cut them back, let mother nature take care of the dormancy, give them some protection during a harsh winter storm if your pots would be in danger of freezing. I've moved very young plants in and out of my unheated garage when temperatures have been predicted to fall much below freezing.

I lost most of my plants. (I live in Alabama and the storms that came through washed so many away) I would really like to get my garden back up to half of what I had and I miss my brugs so much. I couldn't re-plant what I lost because there was so much that had to be cleaned up that the flower thing came in after the clean up, fixing up and getting the other things going that had to be fixed. I have started to put in my bulbs again. I had to go to Lowe's, Walmart, etc. and buy them over. I would like to have gotten them through the websites like GardenWeb but the cost of shipping was more than just buying some bulbs and trying to start over. Any brugs that you can spare would be greatly appreciated. I will send you the $$ of shipping of course. Brugs are not one of the plants that you can buy at Walmart and I haven't seen them at Lowe's or Home Depot. We have NIL nurseries in this area. I hail from upstate New York and I miss the nursery thing. You could find them ALL OVER but down here "not-ta". Thanks for anything you may have. If there is anyone that lives in this area "Tuscaloosa", might have cuttings that they are willing to give away, please email me.... I am also looking for a Confederate Rose too. Sharon

Dan; i have a question for you about the collecting of the coneflower seeds. is it better to cut the heads off and than dry it or pull the seeds off the flower and than dry them? thanks

Once the head has dried on the stem, pull it off and then let give it a couple more days before pulling/rubbing the seeds off. Spread them out on a sheet of newpaper and give them a few more days to air dry, shuffling them once a day. Then, once the seeds are completely dry, store them in a dry, cool place in paper seed envelopes (I use the smaller coin envelopes available from Staples) until you make a trade or plant them. This is what I do for all my seeds.
