Summer lettuce

User

One of my constant gardening ambitions is to be able to harvest lettuce from April thru October. It hasn't happened yet. Not this year, for sure.

Today, with the forecast warning of temps hitting 3 figures, I hit the garden for an emergency salvage harvest. Of the four plantings still growing, I found two already too far gone, two not gone at all. Summertime [Iceberg] and Nevada [Batavia] were still sweet and good.

These are two of my standard favorites, but I like to keep trying new varieties. This year, besides the above, I've planted Jericho [romaine] New Red Fire [red leaf] Tropicana [green leaf] and Ermosa [butterhead].

What is everyone else planting? Does anyone have recommendations for some new heat-resistant variety?
