Dynamite Fertilizer -- anyone used it?
Comments (2)It's a resin coated time release fertilizer that lasts months. It's good if you don't want to mess with applying fertilizer throughout the year or if your soil is especially sandy. The extra cost, production expenses aside, pretty much pays for saved time...that's up for you to decide if that saved time is worth it, i guess. Imagine it as a melting ice cube who's layers of resins allow water/heat to "melt" the prills as formulated. One formula for a colder zone would be apt to "melt" at lower temperatures compared to one designed for a hotter zone....See MoreAnyone have fertile duck eggs???
Comments (7)Mamacotti, Thanks for your kind words over the loss of our geese. Incidentally, we were advised by one of the best breeders in the country to yes, add a couple more of similar age if possible and don't wait too long either. They're flock creatures, like herd animals and feel secure in numbers. We're looking into a few more. As for duck eggs, we have four bonafide indian runners, 2 ducks, 2 drakes. Not show quality, but hearty and more reliable layers than our hens. Not sure if you're familiar with the breed - real cartoon like characters though - like a bowling ball on flippers, always on the go - single file. We call them "the little batillion". Can send pics if you like. If you're are interested, and can give us directions on how to send them, we'd love to help. Runners don't normally go broody (too busy) so our fertile eggs have quite the opposite problem. LFRJ...See Moreanyone use comfrey as a fertilizer?
Comments (7)Yes Comfrey Bocking 14 variety is non-invasive. But I don't know how invasive the 'officianale' common variety would really be in Florida. Nothing really invades in my garden unless I water it except for vines like passionflower. Here's the place I ordered from last year. More plants in a minimum order than I wanted or needed but maybe you could go halvsies with someone. I got the crown cuttings because he said the root cuttings would take much longer to become plants. Some of the crown cuttings had green tops on arrival and some didn't but every single one lived, causing me to wonder where I would find room for them all because he sends extras. Super nice seller who called afterward to make sure they arrived alive (who does that these days?). I'm donating some extras I kept in pots to a local community garden who is creating an 'herbal' demonstration garden. Comfrey would be great for anyone with chickens since I hear they LOVE it. What city are you in? Denise Here is a link that might be useful: Where I ordered comfrey...See MoreAnyone use H.L Shealy purely organic fertilizer?
Comments (2)Yes I use it. My rose society orders from Shealy each year. The purely organic is comparable to rose tone and you can get it in 25lb or 50lb bags so it costs less if you have a lot of roses....See Moregardener_sandy
