I have two crape myrtle trees that have hundreds and hundreds of seed pods and currently have a bunch of babies on the ground below them. One has green leaves and the other has purple. I don't have any seeds saved, but if you are willing to wait then I can send you as many seed pods that I can fit in a bubble envelope for sasbe when they mature. I think that the seeds germinate just fine, but if not then I'll send you enough so that you should at least get one seedling. If you have anything to trade with me and you want to, that would great, but if you can't then it's all good too. :)

The only way to be sure of the color quality is to buy when in bloom. Here in Calistoga a crape myrtle comes up from the ground almost from a crack in the side walk with a beautiful red bloom. If I had the nerve I would go back at night and dig it up, but instead I just enjoy it every year when it shows up again. Sunsets suggestions are good Bob, as they are also mildew resistant, but mildew should not be a problem where you live. Al

I've lived in Eastern WA, north of Spokane. I believe there are very few, if any, crepe myrtles that will survive the winters in Walla Walla. Perhaps contain grown and stored in a freeze-free but cold building? I have also lived in Dallas & loved the crepe myrtles there.
