Need help identifying these tiny critters

Hello everyone! This is my first post and I would be grateful for any suggestions/input. I recently noticed microscopic yellowish brownish insects all over my tomato plant. The leaves on the plant were curling up (but I thought I was over-watering or the plant was outgrowing the container). I think it might be thrips but I'm not sure. Here are some pictures of the little insects...though they just look like little brown dots:

There are little dimples on the young tomatoes

I have not noticed any stink bugs, but it doesn't mean they are not around.

I've isolated this plant (some surrounding tomato plants also had some of the same, but was not as bad so I could manually wipe them off) and sprayed with some soap-water (since this seems to be the first solution for all types of pests). Are these thrips? some type of mites? Or some other critter? I would hate to pull the plant out...I hope I can get rid of them....

Thanks in advance!
