Yeah, Kuffel Creek originally turned me on to the warm climate varieties. I was planning to order from them at some point, and then I was at the local nursery and saw an inexpensive bareroot 5-in-1 with all warm climate varieties and I impulse bought it. Already had the fuji here, and I just recently grafted on the pink, gordon & sekai ichi. I figure that's a good mix to start for my backyard forest garden. I can't fill the whole place up with apples... got to leave space for avocado, citrus, stone fruits, loquats, grapes & persimmons.

lycheeluva, I would like to try those gages on my Italian plum. Might even help a bit with fruit set. I have many patented and young varieties that limits my selection for scion wood. The plum trees I have for scion wood are; Superior, Toka, Stanley, Italian, Santa rosa. The young plum trees for scion wood next or maybe late season; Shiro, Alderman, Improved Duarte, Spring satin plumcot, Methley.

I ordered some rose cuttings online last month and roses aren't as tender as hydrangeas. When I received them they were dried to a crisp and useless for propagating. It would be your best bet to look for already rooted cuttings. There are some Nikko blues and other varieties of rooted cuttings available for purchase on ebay. However I ordered a 1.5 gallon hydrangea plant a few weeks ago and when it arrived it was cooked from the heat. It had been in the 80's. They are very sensitive. The plant lost all of its foliage and is now beginning to leaf back out but it looked rough for a while and I was worried. I live in zone 6b.
