Little Gem Lettuce fall crop

Similar to the peas question but I am going to grow my lettuce in containers.

Its a 50 day maturity, according to Park Seed, where I got my little gem seed.

I have no problem moving my containers inside the insulated garage at night to avoid frost, and am more concerned about planting too early.

What daytime temps should I be aiming for and when? eg. when it does not go above "x degrees F" during the day, is good for lettuce (and spinach and peas for that matter -as I may do some early fall containers for them too). This question applies to germination as well as I think I remember reading somewhere they need cool temps to germinate.

Right now our daytime temps are high 80s, sometimes low 90s and low 50s at night. This should continue through late August. I'd say our first frost is early October? By early October I remember it being fairly cold in the mornings and we are at 6600ft.

I figure on placing them on the east side of our house where the sun is cooler and hits it from about 7am to 3pm.

Sorry for all of the beginner questions. I was thinking about starting seeds in mid July but wonder if that is too early. Thanks!
