Hi Stew-

The yellow raspberries we see most in the U.S. are:

Anne - This is arguably one of the best tasting raspberries... But, it's not as productive as some other varieties.

Kiwi Gold - A very productive, vigorous, uniquely (but good) flavored raspberry.

Fall Gold - I'm not growing this one, but all the reports I've heard from others say that it doesn't taste as good as Kiwi Gold or Anne, and it's not very productive either. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend it.

There may have been one more yellow variety, but I can't remember it at the moment.

I haven't heard of anyone growing the varieties you mentioned, but they appear to be quite old. I found one reference to "brinkles orange" from back in 1860 and one of "antwerp yellow" from the 1870's.

3 more months until I start seeing my raspberries again... *sigh*

ive managed to get ANNE from tresured plants in the u.s.a i really like that verity, i will see if the have the KIWI GOLD to add to the collection, the FALL GOLD i grow but i find very poor outside ( althou its the standard yellow in the uk)it allways manages to rain just as fallgold ripens and the berries go mouldy easy, taste is quite nice
weve also had GOLDEN QUEEN,but was very small and canes suseptable to very cold weather

If GOLDEN QUEEN was a better performer, I'd ask you more about it, but since it isn't... KIWI GOLD is actually originally from New Zealand, but I'm not sure if it's still grown there. For some reason that I can't understand, sometimes it's a little hard to find here in the U.S., but my local nurseries always carry it. Let me know if you can't find a source. Haven't heard of "Treasured Plants" before. Are there export problems getting raspberries back to England? Be careful, there are some less-than-reputable online nurseries over here! Best regards,

hi glenn, its via u.s ebay treasured plants, i pretty sure they had KIWI GOLD, but postage and and packing was rather expensive about £40 ( $60-70 dollars?) to the uk, so hopefully ill place another order an add it to the collection, the GOLDEN QUEEN was poor for me but may do well stateside, ( berries were small and seedy, canes low growing about 4ft, and didnt like the cold and wet ground)
yeah lots of problems, you need a pytho certficate and not many nurseries intrested in sending to the uk,
we have some less than reputable nurseries here, a few years back i got a load of american raspberries from a uk supplier, funnily enough kiwi gold was one of them, along with royalty, jewel,and some other they all fruited RED!!!!, forgot to add i have a yellow raspberry called GOLDEN EVEREST , probley the best of the yellows over here,

I did find "Treasured Plants" on eBay earlier this morning, but I don't see any products listed at the moment. Are they seasonal?

How does your Golden Everest compare to Anne? More productive but not as flavorful?

Have you checked out www.NourseFarms.com? Over here, in my mind, (especially since they are only 4 hours away from me) they are considered probably THE place to go to for brambles. They actually specialize in them. Their DGW nursery rating is a perfect 81 positives, no negatives. If you explained your passion and quest to them, I wonder if they could help? At the very least, it would be a good source of info on the U.S. varieties. If you need me to forward a catalogue (did I spell it right for you?!?), let me know.

never got my money back, they said they changed colour because i let them fruit on there first season, i still have a laugh about that, even the rubus research in the uk told them that this was impossible!!
treasured plants is seasonal, only trouble is the advertise very late and supply bareroot, so hit and miss if the plants take in time,
the golden everest i grow outside fill a row very quickly, has thick sturdy canes sometimes thicker than my fingers, and up to 6ft canes,a summer floricane, doesnt suffer mould ( like fall gold, golden queen, over here, berries are good size ,well formed, double the size of golden queen and bigger than fall gold, taste is good aswell, i grow the anne in my polytunnel for safety ( dont wanna lose her) and find it very very good, but not quite as good as golden everest,and crop a little less,
i found noursefarms for the 1st time the other day, amazing plants but think only ship to the u.s.
, i also do a bit of experimenting, and have grown an orange raspberry if anyones intrested email me, as i dont know how to post pics on the forum yet,

As for posting, usually people post them to other sites, and then link them in from here. There is a way to do it through Garden Web directly, but I haven't done it. Do you think you could post it elsewhere? Once you do that, you then put in text that looks like this:

sad part of the story is the plant that produced it died in winter, BUT, the good side is ive duplicated the original experiment, so hopfully orange rasps again, also the berries you will see i have seedling that may produce this year ( and hopefully line bred an orange till its stable) theres some dark red, red, and a yellow i bred, my original project was 30 odd plants, ive got about 100 more seedlings on the way
in the uk, its a big no-no growing raspberries from seeds, all you hear is you get poor results, there is failures, but the seedling they throw up and colours that come out are worth the effort,

Per our emails, here's your pic! The color of the peachy colored ones looks quite similar to Kiwi Gold. Your custom yellow's are even brighter yellow than our Anne's. Very cool!

Almost salmonberry in color, interesting.

Yeah, the yellow ones are one's he bred himself. Apparently the color was cool, but the taste wasn't that great, and they were quite seedy. Pretty cool nonetheless.
