too early to plan for fall?

Hi! I planted some things back in March for a summer harvest. I made some mistakes and learned quite a bit and had a lot of fun. Some were planted right in the ground, others in containers. I've got some tomatoes, several kinds of peppers, tons of basil, a thriving watermelon plant that should start producing fruit really soon, huge squash vines, and some strawberries. Not too bad for my first attempt.

So, is it too early to start thinking about my fall garden? I figured I should buy my seeds now while they're still available, but can I already start things indoors for transplants? What kinds of things have you had most luck with in a fall garden? Thanks!
