It looks like a patty pan squash.

Lori, that looks like patty pan squash. They look like UFO's and are scalloped. I hear they're yummy. I'm trying to grow them this year. Luck you!!

Oh and if they are patty pans, they're best harvested smaller (3-4 inches in diameter)

The scalloped or patty pan squash comes in different colors, yours looks almost yellowish so maybe it's yellow patty pan, but the old variety grown all the way back even before the 1700s was white. I'm growing the white kind right now and looking forward to taste one.

i just put in some yellow scalloped seeds and the seed pack had a pic that looked just like yours. j

I would third (? 4th?) the patty pan, and I believe it's the yellow too! I heard the yellow is a LOT more tastey than the green, but that was just what I heard. Not tasted myself :)

Yep, looks like a pattypan, but it kind of looks like it has brighter yellow stripes on it, which is neat. Hack that baby off and have a taste, then let us know how it was!

Scarletdaisies, I'm growing a white pattypan this year too, and I can't wait to see what it tastes like. I've actually read that this one can taste good and still be tender when it's like 8" or 9" in diameter, so it'll be interesting to see if that's true or not. I can already see the tiny green female flowers with little baby scalloped edge pattypans in the making at the base of the plant, even though they're like 1/2 an inch right now, and they're really, really cute.

I've got some too! I'm waiting patiently hoping the flowers were pollinated. I'm kicking myself over I can't seem to get any yellow squash to do well due to it's lack of resistance to squash bugs.

I just ordered some bt, so I hope it gets here in time. I love the taste of yellow squash and was dissapointed to find mine was the white kind, I don't like zucchini at all, but it also is not resistant.

She got a lucky volunteer! I would make my whole garden a vine or squash, they are so impressive and produce my favorite foods. I have volunteer cucumbers this year, no complaint here!

here in cali.. they are called summer squash or scalloped squash.. they are very tasty.. i usually pick them when they are about 4 inches in diameter. you can let them get bigger. but i think they are the most edible at 4 or so inches.. its a keeper..
