I would mist the eggs & get warmth on them ASAP, making sure they do not get too hot. Hopefully someone with more experience will be along shortly.

duck eggs usually need some humidity so misting them very lightly would be a good idea, i kept my incubator set at 102'-103' for hatching them. Good luck.

Thanks for the misting advice. I did it twice but will do it more now that I know it's good for them. I have a heating pad with a towel over the eggs which stays between 90 and 100. Will this work? Also is there a way to tell if the chicks are dead. I tried candling them but couldn't see though the thick shell. Thanks for you replies.

I'm by no means an expert here so take it with a grain of salt:
I would put a rack, like a bread cooling rack or similar, between the heating pad & the eggs. The pad may get too hot if the eggs are laid directly on it. Check the temp regularly & adjust as needed. Turn the eggs several times a day(mark them with an "X" so you know which ones you've turned). Mist twice a day, maybe 3 times. If they have only a week to go before hatching, you should start seeing the eggs moving slightly if you look real close. You may even hear some peeping as they get closer to hatching. Also, I would try candling the eggs again using a flashlight & an empty tissue paper roll.

Thanks for the reply. I put towels on the heating pad so they are not on it. The temperature is usually between 90 and 105. And I have been misting them and turning them. I will try candling them again. The premature chick died within the hour. I think he was injured because the shell had been damaged. We think it was a fox. Is there any other way of nowing if they are alive? They don't smell and the eggs haven't changed color. Thanks

I don't know of any other way to tell if they are alive. Sorry. I would continue doing what you are doing for 14 days or so, just to be sure before disposing of them. What about placing one egg in a bowl of water & watching for movement? I **don't think** this would hurt the chick, and you may be able to detect any slight movement???
