Fungus gnats -- treat soil or dump it out and start over?

Ugh, yet another question. Thanks for bearing with me. Also, please excuse me for having posted something similar on the Container Gardening forum -- it seemed appropriate there, but I think this forum moves faster.

This is regarding the same eggplants I posted another question about this morning. Reading on, I'm realizing I there were fungus gnats in some of the potting soil I used and that they're more than just a nuisance -- they and their larvae can harm the plants. I moved about 5 young eggplant plants into bigger pots yesterday using a mix of some old potting soil I had around (which must have had the gnats), some new Miracle Gro potting soil and some nice leaf compost. Do you think I need to dump it all out and start again? Or drench the soil with something to kill the gnats? Thanks!
