Help Identify Vegetable Plant

I planted some cucumber seeds in this area of the garden.. I planted a newer variety (Poinsett 76?) and look what grew! I have no idea what kind of veggie this is. I was hoping someone would tell me what the heck it is. This looks like some sort of "Volunteer" plant, and not the cucumber hybrid.

It looks like that cucumber only got partially pollinated. It is probably the same variety you planted, but only one part of the flower got pollinated, so only a part of the fruit swelled up with a seed cavity.

All of the fruit are the same size and shape. There are 8-12 more just like this one that are still growing on the vines. I dont believe this particular fruit is deformed. I've never seen anything like it though. I wonder if the seed company accidently placed the wrong seed in the packet, or perhaps this Hybrid is resorting back to it's parent fruit/vegetable. OR maybe a bird deposited this variety in the exact spot I was planting seeds... Anyway I dont know if it's edible, or what. The plant is very big and is taking up valuable space in the garden.

That's a nymphal grasshopper or katydid or something in that family. I read about your recipe....be careful that it doesn't burn the plant tissues, especially when the sun gets on them. Look for tiny aphids clustered (and not moving) on the new stems and leaves. They may be green, yellow, brown, pink, etc.

Hard to tell for sure, are they pretty young still? They look like when my sensopai started, but the leaves got wider after more leaves developed. Although, the thinner leaves, and the glossy sheen may mean a type of chard.... I would say if small round leaves develop under the broad leaves, and the broad leaves get bigger and round its sensopai, if the stems stay bare under the broad leaf and the leaves stay more elongated its a type of chard....

1st photo is a pepper. Looks like maybe a serrano or something similar. 2nd is a winter squash of some sort. Got a ways to go yet before it is mature. 3rd is lettuce that has bolted (gone to flower). 4th is kale. Rodney

I concur that it does not appear to be a Poinsett, which is an 8 inch slicing cuke. The leaves also look more like a C. melo than a C. sativus. Maybe an Armenian cuke or some cross therof. I also concur that the odd shape is due to lack of pollination. Try hand pollination and see what you get.
Just for information. Poinsett 76 is open pollinated.
