color of container grown squash

I'm not new at gardening, just container gardening.

My new house has too many trees so could not use raised beds like I am used to. I got bags of miracle grow garden soil for veggies and used this for my tomatoes. They look great. Then I got an off brand garden soil that my squash went in. Everything is growing well and the squash has big blossoms getting ready to open. My question is: the squash plant color looks too bright, light green. Shouldn't the color green be a deep color like the tomatoes? I also have 1 tomato plant in the off brand soil and it too looks kind of light in color. I read on line that it could be caused by iron OR nitrogen defenciency. I put fertilizer in them now am afraid they will only grow leaves and no fruit! How do I get iron in the soil? any suggestions?
