I had success soaking for 24 hours until you see a bulge on one side of the seed (the initial root about to exit from one side of the helum ring on the seed. The aim is to get the soil or peat to keep the seed shell down and yet give little resistance to the leaves as they unfold. So I found the best way to grow them is to insert the presoaked seed at 45 degrees with the root bulge down and the circular helum ring slightly poking out of surface of a new peat pellet. Enclose seeded peat pellet in 85-90 F / 30-32 C heated propagator in high humidity (leave a small container of water with the seeds). Check out the video link below to see what happened. Sodbuster, Better yet, show me a picture of this Datura vine. I have seen several posts on this forum where Ipomoea alba,which is a white nocturnal flower of the morning glory family is referred to as Moonflower. I have also seen Evening Primrose, genus Oenothera, referred to as a yellow moonflower. I have also seen Brugmansia referred to as a Moonflower. Will the real "Moonflower" please stand up. I guess all I am trying to say is wouldn't it be easier to refer to these plants by their proper name instead of calling all of them moonflowers? I am trying to understand the naming conventions that are used on this forum. It is difficult to respond to something if you're not sure what plant the person is asking about.

I don't need anymore Moonflower or Purple Swirl Angel Trumpet, as Alicia sent me quite a few and I've already got them planted in pots to get them started!! I have come across some hummingbird vine seeds that I have if anyone is interested in some of those. They will reseed themselves each year. I let them grow around the latticework on my deck. They usually pop up in the summer and early autumn! They have bright pink cone-like flowers on them and the hummingbirds love them.

I planted mine yesterday. Usually I wait until June 1st to plant seeds but there is no frost in this week's weather forecast so I took a chance. In New England it would be hard to find nighttime temperatures that don't dip below the mid 60s until mid summer and I've planted morning glories successfully other years. Mine have always been planted near the foundation of the house, so perhaps that helped keep them warm. Good luck with yours. I hope they grow well.
