Growing habit of Bodacious sweet corn

This is my first season with Bodacious sweet corn (75 day).

The plants are about 30 inches tall and is see evidence of very small ears almost at ground level and the corn is starting to tassel. Not just in the swirl but atop the 30 inch plant. This growing behavior seems very odd to me.

Yes, we had a cold spring but I planted this corn in South Carolina around April 28 from seeds I had started in pots in my greenhouse.

One county agents says I should pull it all up and start over. This agent believes transplanting has confused the sexual and maturity clocks for this corn as well.

The other county agent says that fast maturing corn can act like this and it should double its height by harvest time and I should be patient.

It is May 31. Still plenty of time to plant a new crop but I hate to pull these up if this is normal for this early variety sweet corn.
