Well it's a nice structure but looks like overkill to me. I think a good solid fence would be a lot cheaper and do just as good a job...But then I can say that I am also a very practical person...I didn't bother to see what that thing costs but I am sure it is expensive even if you build it yourself.

Hmmm, it looks like a modified chicken coop to me. You could probably use a plan for one of those with a couple of changes to make it look like that. Try the Hobby Farms website, since I know they have a couple of plans for that sort of structure somewhere on there.

I would call it an enclosed raised bed. It is a pair of raised beds, separated by a gravel "sandbox" or walkway, with a deer fence (or people/raccoon/rabbit fence) attached and a framed, hinged doorway. Looks like the fence extends about 6 feet, with an unfenced extension of about 2 feet to discourage high jumpers (not a problem anyway with a garden this size).

Start with a plan for a raised bed (easy to find), and plan on adding 4x4 posts to the corners. Then bring this picture to a lumberyard or a woodworking friend. The rest of the construction is almost all just stock lumber that can be cut to size by the lumberyard. The trick is to make sure that the uprights are vertical and that the structure doesn't shear. You can probably pay a carpenter $50 to complete the design so that you're sure it's done right, or could have it built for you, unfinished, for about $400 (rough guess) plus the lumber.

I did a little more reading ... it looks like they have a whole system involving irrigation, a cage under the garden to keep out burrowing critters, landscape fabric to suppress weeds, etc. If you add all of these, it could turn into quite a project. If deer are the only problem, you can fence in a good-sized vegetable garden cheaply and easily.

Many many years ago, my uncle had a similar structure, though not as elegant-looking. They lived at the last end of nowhere in a very wooded area with thousands of critters who'd decimate a garden, along with a few cattle, barnyard fowl, and a few pigs. He completely enclosed his garden area, sides and top with wire netting about ten feet tall to keep out animals AND birds (crows & corn seedling problems), burying it a couple of feet deep to keep out the diggers, too. Maybe the netting was chicken wire. Occasionally they'd let the guineau fowl into the area to eat the insects. Their yearly survival depended on what they could grow and can, so the garden came first in everything from Spring through Fall. It had a tall latch-gate. When I was a kid, I thought it was really neat!

So, I think its usefulness must depend on where one lives and the critters one must contend with.

lamd, have fun searching for just the right plan. You may end up designing your own to accommodate your space needs, but it should be fun if you can get the basics under your belt!

If you're just worried about the deer, I'd call that part a fence. Here's a pic of my version. Not near as nice as the one in the picture but works great to keep the deer out and is much larger than the one in the picture (60' x 80')

I have a chicken coop and a run. My run looks somewhat like the picture you've showed us. I've often thought that something like that would be good for growing berries, since without it, the birds (and other wildlife) would eat it all.
You might try looking on sites that show pics of chicken runs.
What I did to keep animals from digging under was to lay 1/2" hardware cloth (wire) flat on the ground around the perimeter. After a while, grass grows through it and it doesn't even show. Its a great deterrent to digging animals.
I would put birdnetting on the top too, so nothing flies in or crawls in.
Our run is a little over 6' so we can easily work in it. We used 8' cedar 4x4's and connected them with cedar 2x4's.
We enclosed it with utility wire and then hardware cloth over that. That's a bit overkill for a garden, but it sure keeps everything out!

I think I'd be tempted to call it a fruit cage, even though you are wanting it for deer rather than birds. If your only problem is deer I think the fence idea would be much more doable. If you also have bird problems then you need a roof too. The one in your picture looks very high spec and as ruthieg says seems to be overkill.
