Can I safely grow vegetables near termite treatment?

I have a small combined vegetable and flower garden adjoining a detached garage. We grow lots of flowers, with a backdrop of vegetables that vary from season to season - usually tomatoes, beans, and cucumbers, etc. The vegetables are closest to the south facing wall of the garage.

Today we got the bad news that the garage has termites in the wall facing the garden. The termite company is going to treat the concrete slab, and will treat a trench along the wall facing the garden. The fellow says it's ok to grow vegetables as long as they're at least 2 feet from the treatment, which they are. Nevertheless I'm freaking out, and we're probably going to dig up the tomatoes.

Do you think it's safe to eat vegetables grown in these conditions?
