you may wish to look up a farm in north east Georgia for tips on free range birds and nesting. The short answer is yes, depending on how/if they roost the same place or not--- & it will take them a few days to adjust but they will. NATURE'S HARMONY FARM in elberton Georgia, is a sustainable farm which i have lent a hand on on occasion. They have a wounder blog about their farm and how they do things. They have generally about 300- 400 laying hens and around 200- to 300 broilers--- all free range, truly free range. they also raise sheep, pigs, cattle and heritage ducks & turkeys. the turkeys are the coolest to me as they actually roost way up in the trees :P the way they move the cows everyday & then the chickens to the paddock the cows were in just dose wounders for their fields which looked quite bad just 3 years ago when they started :) hope this helps a lil

Thanks tom123. I received a reply post from ctnchpr who estimated them flying away at around 21 days...give or take a few days. You can see the pic when they were 8-9 days old on the link below. I also have pics from when they were just two tiny eggs and also 1-2 days after hatching. Precious little things. Just so happy they did not come to any harm from predators. Hi Cathy. I agree about the piece of wood. I just went out and removed it and will watch to see if it makes any difference to the blues. I may have to put a thin metal strip across the front to keep the door from closing too much. I must admit I hadn't thought of a better escape route for the BBs. I was hoping to get a shot of two or more of them peeking out on fledge day. With the round hole it's hard to see more than one at a time, although, if I recall, Kenn has shots that do. Hi Harold. Hope you are well. Actually, those images were shot at 1/5000sec. I always set it high when I am trying for action shots, to be sure to stop the wings. Probably at that distance I could have gotten by at 1/800. Dave

About 2 feet, this picture was done with a cheap, second hand point and shoot camera Sony P43, about 4 megapixel, ....and was shot by itself by means of motion sensor/controlboard, camera needed to be hacked, 3 wires soldered inside and hocked up to motion board, this can be programed on how often pictures are taken. Camera and board is put inside a Pelican case/ sealed. 3 holes are drilled, one for flash, one for lens and one for sensor, glass is glued over for the lens and flash hole. Then all you need to do is put it up, in this case there was another tree beside the box, strapped on. Here another one, this one with a Sony P32...3 mega pix. Konrad
