How about listing the dangers of an ingredient 1259.74 times as strong as what a home gardener applies? (97% vs 0.077%.) korney19, i thought this was a friendly forum, for people to grow and learn as gardners. somewhere early on this changed from a friendly question to something aggressive. i have stated and re-stated that every person is entitled their opinion. the purpose for the post was for opinions... i previously stated that i acknowledge that you are a supporter of this product... i previously stated that i am by far not organic. on the organic forum i stated i am new to organic gardening and that i usually take the easy way out with sprays.... this was just a discussion not a personal attack. Sarah, I'm sorry you feel it's any type of personal attack, it isn't. I've used the product in question, as well as researched it and read much info about it for the last 7-10 years, and made my decision, as have many others... unfortunately, you've made your decision on it in 7-10 hours... actually much less. That in my opinion is jumping to conclusions too soon. There's an extremely high chance that the purchased food you've been eating for the last umpteen years has been in contact with chlorothalonil, as well as your parents' and maybe their parents' food too. It may be the most widely used fungicide, and the most accepted too. You searched the meaning of TOXIC and said it meant POISON. All I asked was which is worse, "practically not poisonous" (the Daconil) or "very low poison" (the product you used instead.) To me, "very low poison" sounds worse. I also felt you should have asked the questions in the Tomato Forum where you'd get more reasonable unbiased answers and opinions--you've asked about your Early Blight tomatoes so far in the Vegetable Forum and the Organic Forum, yet not the Tomato Forum... if you break your foot, do you see your family doctor, or a foot specialist? Please forgive me if I seem to be harsh, but it seems like you're buying into the organic agenda. As for this forum being friendly, ALL GW forums should be, but I find it to be a little uneasy here on educated gardeners who use manmade products... not everyone can make their own compost, use IPM for pests, Bt, cow manure, straw mulch, etc. Maybe if the product you bought doesn't work as expected, you'll ask in the Tomato Forum. It already costs more, and I believe also needs twice as much per application as Daconil. It's also relatively new and there's not a lot of data and tests on it yet... who knows? maybe it'll cause frogs in landlocked stagnant ponds to have cataracts or something! Triforine (No "l") No big deal, but if you should decide to look it up on line to learn more about the chemical, you'll have better luck if you have the right spelling. :-) Whatever chemical you decide to use, please read the label carefully, and follow the instructions. Spray thoroughly once and the wait 7 to 10 days before spraying again. Be sure to spray the whole plant, including top and underside of leaves and stems. Pay attention to the weather (don't spray right before rain or when leaves are wet; dont spray when it's windy) and time of day (any pesticide will burn plants in full sun; spray at end of the day). Read and follow the directions exactly (don't use more or less than is called for; don't add anything to the solution that isn't called for on the lable). Wash any produce from sprayed plants before eating it. Wear gloves and a mask (a kerchief will do.)
