Why would one use a technique they believe incorrect?

Yep I sinned on a proper growing AV. many times and I still got good results for most plants that are "Species" it's adapt or die, for me AV's adapt very well indeed from soil to ferts and even lighting I broke many of the "truer growing rules" on this one plant.
Will my AV win a show? Well, yes it shows me flowerings for the better part it shows me some plants rather forgiven to us even when we do multi sins.
Myths are slightly different there fallacies that offer hopeful positive results that sometimes just only give us hope they continue to make sense to us to at least try and often continue in this manner. I doubt this is a sin to the believers of the myth, but those who start myths certainly sin
I guess my second sin is being a tattle tail toward the garden myths I can be comfy with that as long as you..................

I gave my brother an established Thai pepper in a mix of small bark, perlite, pumice, and gravel.
As far as after-care, he did everything wrong...and yet the plant survived. Then his girlfriend's mother stopped by for a visit. She was convinced that the mix needed some "dirt in it," so she grabbed a couple gobs of muck from the edge of the lawn and gooped them into the container. The plant was yellowing and sickly by the time I learned of this sabotage, but I was able to remove the mudcake from the container...so I think the plant will be alright.

Yes, of course... I employed a few of the methods that I now know to be fallacies... until I learned that they were useless or detrimental... and then, I changed my methods to ones that were truth, and not fiction.

I used to use a drainage layer in the bottom of every pot, and I used to use very fine potting soil that collapsed within a short amount of time.

Once I learned that I was literally suffocating and drowning my plants, I completely changed the methods I used to container garden.

I've always preferred unglazed clay pots over plastic, and I've known for a very long time that proper watering techniques net more success than a set schedule. Some things are common sense, and some require a little bit of scientific knowledge as an explanation.

It's not a crime, nor is it embarrassing, to admit that you don't know it all! It's not embarrassing for me to admit that I followed certain advice that turned out to be wive's tales. We live and learn.

It's when we stop learning, or stop asking questions, that we fail... we fail ourselves. It's in the search for success that we keep learning.

I don't want to just settle for average plants. I want healthy, spectacular looking plants!

Okay! Okay! I will admit one of my transgressions. I am so ashamed, but I sometimes accidentally use dirt in my containers. I belong to DGA (Dirt Gardeners Anonymous), but they only have one meeting per week. I guess I just back slide between meetings.

All joking aside, it shows character to admit mistakes, and to strive for correcting those mistakes. I thought I made a mistake once... but I was wrong. ;-)

I used dirt from the rose bed fert from a moo and a clucker rain is my prefferance for water why pay for distilled adding to it's alrady cheap low price.
