If it was me....I would leave them, they will add Asparagus to your bed (you can't have too much Asparagus ;-) The Males are better (but mainly to a commercial grower ,whose livelihood is based upon critical percentages ,their bottom line has to be met or they don't make a profit), but for a backyard gardener, the difference in production is maybe 10% less than optimum. Yes worms have no issues eating asparagus. I have added the tough uncooked ends multiple times to my bin. I will warn you it can smell a bit if you leave them on top so I recommend burying them in the bedding or castings. Similar things happen with broccoli as well.

Do asparagus aphids only harm plants by eating them not transmitting dieses like cucumber beetles do? I killed most of them but my asparagus bed is 5' x 5' x 5' and THICK. No way to spray everything unless I cut down at least 1/2 the ferns.

You might get lucky, but they will charge you even if they do not have proper stock of what they list. Also prices can vary wildly with some companies depending on which "sale" code they give you.
