Slugs seldom make "polka dots." Large chunks often disappear.

Any chance of images?

Mine have the same problem... I've just assumed it to be flea beetles.

Right now I use nothing (and my plants show it).. While I'm not strictly anti-chemical like some gardeners, I would prefer to work towards a naturally pest free garden by encouraging the the right kinda bugs to stick around. Haven't quite started on that yet, this is only my first year with my new beds and am working more towards getting in the swing of things than trouble shooting 'minor' problems.

So far my bug problems haven't significantly affected harvest or growth of my plants, so I've decided to share the garden with them for the time being. This fall will be a different story as I plan to grow lots and lots of leafy veg for us.

It's kinda dark out now, you can only see the largest of the holes.. There are a lot more spread out all over the bottom half the plant. Most holes are about the diameter of the tip of a ball point pen.

Flea beetles like mostly eggplants and peppers. Not tomatoes. But today I saw them on my tomatillo. Well, that is ok. It is kind of vent for the leaves..haha

The leaves on tomatillos seem a lot more like pepper leaves than they do tomato leaves to me, maybe the bugs can't tell the difference?

They are smarter than we think ..haha

Tomorrow , I will throw a nylon netting (tulle) over my tomatillo plant.

They are now flowering. The one with the curled leaves less than the other, but that"s a good sign to me!
I wouldn't think they would flower if they're ill.

luckily with tomatillo, tomato , pepper, eggplant.. you don't need insects help that much. some wind or tapping can do it, because, each flower is self sufficient in terms of its sexual needs : D
