plants for an outdoor aviary

Hello,

I have an outdoor aviary that is against a west facing wall, and has an almond tree on the other side, so the aviary is shaded most of the day. It is 9 feet long by 5 feet wide. Currently, it houses a pair of cockatiels, but will soon house a pair of lovebirds too. Because the birds LOVE to nibble on everything, i would like to plant a couple of plants in there that will not harm them and that would add some interest. I already have a couple of clumps of native purslane, which i noticed they really love to eat, and an asparagus fern, which they've reduced to pretty much nothing at all! What type of plant could i use that wouldn't be harmfull to the birds and wouldn't mind getting nipped back constantly? The purslane and asparagus fern push tons of new growth every time they nibble them back to the bare stumps. Here are a couple of photos:

The aviary is to the far right of the picture, against the storage shed

And here's a picture of the inside, showing the crushed marble groundcover on the inside and the general structure of sticks and tree stumps
