I need help please and fast bugs

guys I plants seeds about a week ago i have had the seeds for awhile and I bought the soil from walmart it was solid (frozen) thawed it planted the seeds in he trays and today I found that most of them have been destroyed.

the surface has nat like bugs but there are little worms (and I do mean little) eating my seeds someone help what and i supposed to do? how do i get rid of the bugs?

You can solarize your soil in the oven. 350degrees for twenty minutes. This should kill all bugs that may be in it, but it will also kill all seeds. It may smell a little, so be sure to put on your exhaust fan. I hate that cheap stuff from Wally World. I have no idea what kind of bugs that could be. I am sure some smart person here will be able to tell you though. Good Luck!

I forgot to state that the soil I bought was the large bag of the miracle grow potting mix

How do I kill the bugs and worms and not hurt seeds that I have left?

I knew as soon as I seen this, that is was a neighbor issue, been there done that, I mentioned forsythia to you on another thread, but now that I see this I wanted to add that you ought to plant rose bushes in a row, the ones that have the largest thorns you can find, in case he tries to come any closer. we had a guy that lives diagonal from us that was standing outside of his door with a video camera, DH sees him while he was messing in the fridge (keep in mind we have a giant white pine tree, that is over our kitchen window) DH from the fridge, starts bobbing and weaving to try to see through the tree at this guy to see what he is doing and he jumped back in the house with the camera, now isn't that spooky? I hate to keep the sun out of my house, but I really think mini blinds are the best thing invented, and they are inexpensive.

I wouldn't toss your SuperThrive out just yet... Personally, it's done me a world of wonders in saving some of the worst cases of dying plants (carnivorous and non) I've ever been through. I bought a rather healthy looking mongrel of a nepenthe about a year and a half ago and it was doing really well. Then it almost overnight was invaded with a dark reddish-orange blotching. Rust. Extremely common with nepenthe purchased from your average large supermarket or garden centre type stores. I'd been given conflicting answers and a lot of people didn't know how to diagnose or treat it. I'd lost two plants to it already, so I went on what I could and actually contacted the owners of several large greenhouses, a biologist and a few semi-famous (in our circles) authors on the matter. Using a combination of neem oil and powered sulfur, I managed to stop the infection in all of them. I'll get a shot of my worst victim; it's literally a stick, and I am not kidding you. Using superthrive, I was able to entice tiny green and healthy buds out of this 'stick' and I'm seeing the beginnings of recovery. Granted, I used many different natural chemicals and remedies, but I fully believe all working together caused this complete turnaround. I fully agree with what you are saying about your 'working' plants, if they're doing 100% there is not really a need to go mucking about their surroundings and possibly harming one of them. And yes, S.T. does smell like a malty, yeasty mixture. Like something you'd use to start fermenting your own beer. :)

Dig up some of the 'bulbs', starting from the outside of the plant and working in. They won't be deep, but they'll probably be tight and not easy to dig - fairly easily separated when out of the ground, however. Chop off most of the green leaf - this CAN be used but usually isn't - if you want to save it, tie it into small bundles. Each bundle can be used like a bouquet garni. Larger bundles can be used for a muscle-relaxing bath. Wash the remaining 'white bits', cut off the roots if you're feeling mean (each bulb with roots can be used to propagate from), and wash off the dirt. For transportation, pat dry, and put into plastic bags, or wrap in plastic wrap - heck, even a piece of cloth to wrap them in, or a paper bag will do to get them from A to B. I gather the recipients aren't too far away. The bulbs and green bits CAN be frozen or dried. You COULD ask the recipients how they'd prefer you to package them! And if they want the green bits.If you're still in doubt - I'm sure the group will be willing/able to send someone to do the harvesting for you - and show you how to do it. You can dictate how much you want to give away and how much to keep. As I said above, all you need is a single bulb to start a new patch of lemongrass.

If I were you'd I'd look through craigslist for a used one that will last you until the remodel. Don't worry about French door or bin sizes, just get one that works and doesn't look beat up. That way you're spending as little as possible and not buying something that might not fit the plans later. Since you'll only have it a few months you'll probably be able to sell it for what you paid so it's really a zero cost option in the end.

Perhaps you have fungus gnat larvae. ({{gwi:27409}} a pic.) Fungus gnats lay their eggs in moist soil, and after the eggs hatch, the larvae feed on organic material and the roots of young seedlings. Occasionally, purchased bags of soil are infested with them.

Gnatrol is a biological larvicide used by greenhouses to control them; It is diluted and then used to water the containers. However, it is expensive and can be hard to find. Mosquito dunks, which are used to control mosquito larvae in ponds, contain the same ingredient and are cheap and usually easy to find. Simply soak one in a watering can for a while and then water your containers and the larvae will die. You can water with it from time to time to prevent the problem from re-occurring.

I'm guessing that you are in a cold climate, and also that these are seeds you have sown inside in containers.

You might try asking at The Winter Sowing Forum explaining how you sowed the seeds, what they were, and where you are located. They might suggest you moving them outside, depending upon what the seeds are.

I never thought about mosquito dunks, I use them in my rainbarrel. That is a great idea. I was surprised that bugs survived in frozen soil. My kids put bugs in the freezer to kill them.
