soil box depth for winter brassicas, greens in greenhouse

I've been growing brassicas and greens in soil boxes in an attached greenhouse. I'm ready to expand winter production and add some more grow boxes. I've been using boxes 1' deep, 2' wide, 3' long, filled with a mix of sand and compost. I'm wondering if 1' is an optimal depth for the new boxes. How deep are your containers? What results do you get?
