Unusually warm weather

Hello all,

We have been experiencing some unusually warm weather for this time of year here in Southern Ontario. The normals for this time of year are H 14C/L 3C (H 57F L 37F). However, we have been sitting at H 23C/L 10C (H 74F L 50F) over the last week and into this week.

I'm not complaining! Obviously it's great weather to get outside and get alot of the work done, but I'm worried about the veggies I have put in. Currently I have cauliflower, broccoli, head lettuce, and onions transplanted, with peas and spinach germinating/sprouting. They are looking healthy and all, but what effects do you think this warm weather is going to have? The largest is about 5-6 inches tall, with the others at around 3-4 inches. Is there any reason to worry about bolting? Should I take any measures to shade or cool things down in some way (even if I can)?

BTW, I am working in a small space so localized shading is an option. Suggestions?

Thanks,

Michael
