oh those look so good, love sugar snaps, wish I had a garden!

This morning there was lots of sun and it felt mild out there, so I put garden gloves on (heavy hoodie and hat too) and nosed around the garden. I ended up pulling shotweed out of one bed and from in between the stones in the courtyard. Even tho it is small yet, some were blooming! I hate that stuff so much. Anyway, I got a bucketful. Last Fall I didn't cut back the anemone or lupines so now I have that job to do as soon as it dries up a bit more out there. Lots of new growth on the lupines already. Think I 'll take down the burlap windbreaks this week. Somehow I need to roll them up and label them as to which goes where for next winter. They kept the majority of cold winds off the boxwood but I see where some damaged areas from the winter before are not going to recover so I'll need to cut the dead wood out. I came in at 1pm. and put the kettle on for tea. It was about a half hour later that I began to chill, so changed shirts and turned up the thermostat. sheesh. Had thought about having tea down in the little barn before but decided against that real quick. The market where I buy my honey must not be going to carry the honey I like any more. Even tho it's from the same home based company, they must have two different apiaries in two different towns. Sounds crazy but I prefer the taste of the honey from the one town over the other, esp. in my tea. It makes a difference, it really does. Anyone have special plans for Easter? Hard to believe it is this Sunday already. For the first time in years, I'm not coloring eggs. Mom says I always say this but at the last minute run to the store for egg dye. ha. We are going out to eat with my brother and his family on Saturday.

Even though December is statistically the coldest month ever-blooming roses are often still out at Christmas here, with January being about the only time of the year when roses don't seem to be doing anything - I've had problems with rooting rose cuttings in the ground and then never getting them transplanted because they were in leaf most of the time. Spring for roses here is Feb. In fact a local weather professor says spring in general for us is Feb-Jul, with the annual summer warming and drying not fully overcoming the lingering winter wetness until Jul.
