Is White Out a Knock Out Rose?
Comments (17)My Whiteout Rose blooms probably more than any other rose I have. It's a great "landscape rose" as many would say. It blooms well, but is not a showy flower or fragrant. It isn't technically a knock out rose. My whiteout faces northwest on a slight slope, so it doesn't get as much sun as it should ideally. It stays about 3' x 3'. My mom grows one and it gets maybe 3.5' x 3.5' and stays in a round bush shape for both of us. It does not blackspot, but gets a touch of PM here in KY for me. It certainly doesn't affect its flowering though. All of my roses this year have holes, which I suppose is caused by thrips. This rose is no exception. I lost it during the harsh winter two years ago. I planted another and it survived this past harsh winter with no protection....See MoreCarefree vs Knock outs? Carpet rose question
Comments (2)I am not sure the question? Are you asking if the carpet roses are as good as Knockout? Or are you asking is Carefree Sunshine as good as Knockout? If you are asking about carpet roses, the answer in the south would (for me) would be far different from Knockout. Carpet roses tend to have cercepspora, anthracnose, blackspot, botrytis blight, grow in a strange way like half-bush and half-creeper, wanna-be-climber, but ground halfcover. Knockout grows like a shrub, no disease, no deadheading. If you are asking about Carefree Sunshine versus Knockout, then that is different. Carefree Sunshine is as healthy and carefree as Knockout. The yellow roses just keep coming day after day and though I have never seen any blackspot or other diseases with them, they have a more natural look than Knockout, in that their foliage is so apple green (as opposed to the dark emerald of Knockout) and blends perfectly with the sweet little yellow sunshiny flowers with the pretty reddish-orange eyelashes....See MoreBurned Knock-outs w/ rose rosette; when can I buy more roses?
Comments (10)Jessica you will probably get a variety of answers so I suggest reading some to find what you think is the best answer for you. Locally Extensions services based on info from Texas A&M agricultural research says you can replant in 10-14 days. RRD is carried by a mite that will vacate a rose once it starts to die. If you have gotten all the roots out then you can replant. Since the mites blow in the wind and can be carried a long way you may or may not have damage to other roses in your yard. If you had any diseased KO that had canes touching other roses and you didn't take them out you should watch the other roses for disease very carefully. In addition to the mites blowing in the wind they walk from cane to cane....See Morelinks to rose care articles mainly about Knock Out roses
