Mix for green roof / roof garden

I am sure someone here will help me iron out the bugs in my green roof soil mix.

I am planting sedums in 21"x11"x3"(deep) plastic nursery flats on my roof. The mix that is available to me so far, can consist of Hydroton (LECA, expanded clay) 40%, perlite 40% and Miracle Gro Potting mix 20% (with or without the coir Moisture control mix?) and maybe some large sized lava rock pieces, to decrease the amount of Hydroton and perlite needed. All the other stuff that can be used on green roofs (and I have spent days reading about this stuff) is very difficult to find around here or very expensive including crushed brick, haydite, aquatic soil, turface, pumice, etc. etc. since I plan to cover at least 200 sq ft.

Will this drain well and will it last? I probably cannot repot it for several years, if ever. What about adding styrofoam packing peanuts? Thanks!!!
