I think I screwed up my soil and plants

I took the advice of two relatives (one who knows about gardening) and mixed garden soil with potting soil. I have tomatoes and peppers planted in this mix. A few of the plants are in the potting soil only.

The mixed soil looks kind of hard and cracked even though it was recently watered. When I say cracked I mean that the soil has pulled away a little from the edges of the pot and the stake. I decided to add some potting soil on top of this to help prevent the mixed soil from drying out. Maybe that was a mistake too, I don't know.

Will my tomato and pepper plants be ok in this mixed soil? Anything I can do to fix this without transplanting?
