Angel, I wish you were in my zone - I have lots of tropicals in my yard. I just moved from zone 6a, so know most of the plants you need - I just don't have any.

I do have Campsis radicans aka trumpet vine and Lonicera aka red trumpet honeysuckle that would work in your zone, but it's invasive - you already have that problem!

I just wanted to tell you that, for me, Bamboo has been incredibly hard to re-plant - if you don't get a good root ball, it just languishes and dies. It's back-breaking work to dig Bamboo plants.

I'd love to try some of your bamboo, I see your looking for
Forsythia and Rose of Sharon I have plenty of both, or see if theres anything on my trade list that you would like.

They would be hydrangea,weigela, obedient plant, sweet autumn clemetis, and siberian iris. Let me know. I will send you a box of bamboo roots or anything else you would like off my tiny list...lol..

Kayjones, I wish you would be in my zone too...lol.. sounds like you have alot. I am such a newbie to perennials its not funny. The more I see the more I want! Its a good thing we have alot of acres..so I can plant till my hearts content. Let me know if you would like some bamboo to try. I have mnore then enough to share...lol..

I'm interested in bamboo but wondering what kind it is with fragrant white flowers. Could it be japanese knotweed?

I am sorry, but I dont have a clue what kind it is, however I did look up Japanese knotweed and everything seesm to be like what they say about that plant, including the flowers which have a "sweet": smell to them.

do you think it's bamboo or japanese knotweed they are different.

I was told bamboo,but I believe she called it bambosa, (not sure I have that spelled right and I know she had another name after that..but I dont remember and she is long gone) and everyone who I have given some of it too have also called it bamboo, but yet the desc. of knotweed sounds alot like it, especially when it is first coming up. I just looked on the PCA plant working group and the leaves on mine do not look like the leaves on the knotweed, mine are MUCH wider and longer. Sorry, I cant help you any more.

But you REALLY should be sure you are not sending people the Fallopia, or "Japanese Knotweed".
This is SUCH a destructive/invasive nassssssty weed, that is already choking out hundreds of acres of native plants in the US.

Please,...Look up more images of "Fallopia japonica" to be very sure this is not what you are trading/shipping.

I do not believe this is the knotweed, as mine is NOT THAT INVASIVE. It does have a spreading habit of about 6 feet but that is it. From what I have read about the knotweed this will become VERY invasive and spread like wildfire. Mine dont do that. Also, my leaves are nothing like what the picture of knotweed shows. I cant be 150% sure about what this is..so please if no one wants any ..that is perfectly fine with me. I jut thought I would offer it to anyone as it is beautiful and makes a excellent hedge plus its fast growing. I do not want anyone to think I am passing a "weed" off. I am going to take some of it into our hort.extension office and find out exactly what it is.

I only want to help not hurt. Bamboo flowers so infrequently that I just thought you maybe have something different. When bamboo flowers it is a big deal the American Bamboo Society has a link to notify them. Bambusa is a clumping species bamboo that isn't hardy in your zone. So if it runs it is not bambusa. There are different species of knotweed some aren't as invasive as others. I would say a third of the time I trade for bamboo it is not bamboo I get arundo donax and jap. knotweed. I had every notion to think you had bamboo until you said it flowers. Please take this as helping not hurting.
