Sharing is the best part of gardening. When a plant does well enough here in New England, others want to know about it. They'd like even more to HAVE some of it. My neighbors and I were going to have a plant swap on June 6th at my place in Walpole... but I did not know of the popularity and timing of WhiteGarden's... so I'm postponing mine and we're joining all y'all! (I'm a Yankee who has worked for Atlanta based Delta Air Lines for a LONG time). Here's some of the stuff I'll be bringing: various miniature, ground cover and autumn joy sedum arnold dwarf forsythia pee gee hydrangea husker red penstemon various herbs lady's mantle lots of daylilies (stella d'oro and red spider) gold tide forsythia chocolate chip ajuga rudbecia and purple coneflower (if there isn't already enough) Also WhiteGarden, I can do a web site for the swap if you'd like me to and include directions dates, times, etc...

Stolon, as a newbie at winter-sowing this year, I must say it is just a fantastic way to start seeds. I've tried all kinds of sowing in the past, but never has it been so easy, cheap, and reliable. I've used entirely recycled materials, even the produce drawers from my old refrigerator. Only had to purchase the seeds and potting soil! Hi Ishareflowers, glad you are planning to come - hope it works out with your schedule! Weeds, you shouldn't have felt shy about coming if you didn't have anything to swap, but it's easy to understand why. I felt the same way 3 years ago when I was lurking here! Seriously, between all the seedlings and plants that will bbe at the swap (if most of the people on this thread are able to make it), there should be LOTS of plants! I have already started potting stuff which is a natural by-product of all the transplanting I've been doing. Hey all, should I start a new thread for the Boston area swap with a confirmed date of June 7th and then we can start talking about details?

Sunday, June 14, 2009 ~ 10:00 am ~ Bristol RI Hi Everyone, We Kym (flwrs4ever) and Sue (suecirish) are just firming up the details of our first live Plant Swap on June 14, 2009. We hope you can join us! This will be a plant swap/picnic lunch. Anyone and everyone is invited !! And feel free to pass the word and bring along any gardening friends, too! We really would like to establish an informal network of gardeners in the Rhode Island - Mass. South Coast area. We are very much looking forward to hosting the event, and hope you can join us. We thought a picnic lunch would be fun. Please bring a covered dish. Kym's hubby will be cooking on the grill, and she has a huge yard, for us all to mingle and get to know each other. Kym will be putting together some door prizes !! Also, feel free to bring left over seeds...we can do an informal seed exchange too. We both will have many seeds to share, for anyone that would like them. You don't have to have any plants to swap in order to attend; we will be pleased just to get to know you. But...
