have: i have many amaryllis belladonna bulbs!

I have about 50 bulbs to trade. I have never really liked them and want them out of my garden. Here is what I want in exchange:

Daylilies, any color

Corkscrew Vine

Pineapple mint

Hostas

Or you can probably tempt me with anything that I don't have already. I do like climbing, flowering vines!

What kind of Amaryllis bulbs do you have? I have a jpg of an orange one with yellow throat. Johnsonii is the closest that I've come to being able to ID it. I'd be interested in trading to get a different bulb. When you write me back, I'll send you the jpg. Xtal

I would dig them now and divide them. If they did not bloom in the last two years they are not going to. This is the time they would be sending up flower stems. I would wait until the rains start to replant them in sunny locations, out of the way of most of the garden. They will grow foliage over the winter which will die down in the spring completely until the blooms come up with no foliage about the first of August. They may not bloom for a year or two, sometimes even more, if they don't get enough sun. In most soils they get along with just the winter rains, but benefit from some summer water, and no fertilizer is usually required. Al

I thought some of the folks in the colder zones might like to know these are not hardy in their areas.

According to Berent and Becky's, they are only hardy in 8-10 zones. The link below shows a map of the hardiness area as well.

Hi Elly, I would dearly love to have a couple of you Amaryllis bulbs if you still have some. I live in East Texas and they will grow just fine here. I've never seen any Amaryllis that looked like that.

I don't have alot to trade. I lost a great many of my plants due to all the rain we had here in East Texas during the months of May, June and July. It rained EVERYDAY in May and June. Then every couple of days in July. Needless to say most of my beloved plants drowned.

My cannas and Elephant Ears loved all the water. I have Tropicanna Gold, Tropicanna Black, and eight other cannas if you would be interested in any of them.
