Interesting. So I have been watching the fruity one for 3 years now, and it seems to have that yellowish tinge every year. I just thought it was its natural color. It does seem to have a lighter colored leaf even in summer. Below are some pix I've taken at different times of year. (Yes, I'm obsessed with the stupid tree :-). We did have a dry late summer, maybe that contributed. But on the other hand - look at the foliage color difference between the two hollies even in summer: 2016-11-12: 2017-01-12: 2017-08-16: 2019-05-22

I like both too. Honeysuckle for the smell and the "kid" factor. The Trumpet vine (if it's the one I'm thinking of) for the brilliant red flowers and the humming birds that come to visit. My cautions are to look "up" and see if any tree limbs are within vine reach. The honeysuckle is invasive here (in GA), and will not DIE!! Right now I have a very brown back yard and a beautiful green honeysuckle on the fence. So apparently they are very drought tolerant! =0) They will also "wrap" around anything that it can get to...including flowers, fencing, trees, etc... Both have climbed up trees here and strangled some, overcome others (small ones). The trumpet vine I only have in the drainage ditch and one tree, but the tree has no leaves, just vine. (it's an interesting look though, looks like it has leaves, but it really only has vine). So it doesn't seem so invasive. Neither dies back completely here....ever. If you have to have one of those two I would vote for the trumpet vine, just because after pulling out all the honeysuckle from one bed and unwrapping a few trees that we want to keep, and pulling every little bit of honeysuckle off the fence, digging down in the bed, pulling out every bit of root I could find, amending the soil, planting beds, and covering them with 4-6 inces of mulch, I STILL have honeysuckle growing everywhere. I don't know what else to recommend you grow though. I have Jasmine and clematis growing. Neither of those is intent on taking over....at least not that they have made clear yet! *LOL* Good luck! I let my yard go for years (Tucker GA / NE Atlanta). I don’t have expert knowledge, but this is what I have done. Ignore the spam on my name (I will probably see any replies). I have privets, Chinese honeysuckle, Greenbriars, and of course poison ivy. Two years ago about 10 pine trees were cut down, and all these invasive species exploded in the backyard. In two years time the privets are 20 feet tall, some of them wrapped in poison ivy and Honeysuckle vines). Two years ago I chopped the large poison ivy vines from the pine trees, and I sprayed the poison ivy leaves that were growing around those trees. Two years later all that poison ivy is gone. The same round up that works on poison ivy has no effect whatsoever on greenbriars nor privets (and strike3, very little effect if any of the honeysuckle). I could mix the poison and stronger, BUT ITS POISON (so I don’t want to do that for spraying). So I bought a plastic paint can and about 50% strength concentrated poison, that I plan to use [strategically rather than sprayed it everywhere] to paint the stump of vines after I cut them. And to girdle some of the privets. In the last few weeks I have cleared about half of my backyard (I put a metal blade in a string trimmer, and it will chew up the vines and the greenbriars that like to twist around each other, but not the privets). Of course the first part of the yard I cleared already has 2 foot weeds growing again. After I cleared this area there are so many roots on the ground from the honeysuckle that the whole yard looks like a plate of spaghetti. I’m thinking about hiring a contractor to use a skid steer to scrape off the vines, then maybe I could plant some grass and get the mower in there for regular maintenance.

I've been battling this nasty vine oriental bittersweet (Celastrus orbiculatus) for at least 5 years here! It is one of my pet peeves. The previous owner "planted" this, when she threw out some Xmas decorations using the berries and they sprouted. I have removed most but not all from this lot but it has spread all over the neighborhood. Sometimes I will carry a folding saw and cut large vines as I walk around the neighborhood and woodlands. PM2, you don't have to remove the shrub to get rid of the bittersweet. You can cut the vine at the base and quickly apply a concentrated brush killer to the cut stump. Then just let the vine die and rot. This is true for vines that are growing up into the canopies of trees as well. I have unwound it and cut it off from trees or shrubs that were accessible, but within a few years it will dry out and can be pulled off fairly easily. Here are some pics from my neighborhood to show the extent of this problem. Vines growing over my next-door neighbor's Pines - he has given me permission to cut his vines, which I started doing last fall - Smothering a tree and shrubbery along the edge of a nearby field - Here are a couple large vines that twisted around each other in their ascent. Some of the vines are big and old - upwards of 4 inches diameter!
