If it were me and I already had the seeds I'd plant them. You' should have time to decide if your small plants will be ready when you are ready for them. If not, then plan B would be to purchase plants.

I think it's worth a shot, too--I'll let you know if it works. I spend so much time worrying about outdoor pests, and then ky pet eats them lol.

Forgot to add that if you do decide to go with plan B, I'm sure you would be able to find some late gardener who will gladely take your extra plants and put them to use.

I'd go ahead and start more. You can always buy some additional plants. And...prevention is key...

Oh my! I never would have thought to protect my seedlings from my cat. Will definitely have to take that into account when we find a new spot for them this weekend.

I suppose as long as she keeps catching birds and dining on them on the dining room floor (Yep, I woke up to bird feathers/wings under the dining room table this morning), perhaps I don't need to worry so much about the plants.

Yes, I will start the seeds, and if they are too small to make it for me here, at that point, I will ship somewhere to someone with a longer growing season :D I do get fruit off my peppers here until October usually, so all might not be lost--just delayed.

I feel your pain....I have to keep my seedlings in the front bedroom or the cats will eat or turn them out. And of course, since they are shut away in another room I keep forgetting to check on the plants!!!

Susan - I think it's the year for cat chewed seedlings. I grow onion from seed and trim them to make them stronger. I couldn't figure out why I trimmed some of the onions so incredibly short. I didn't remember trimming them so low. Then I realized the cat had been snacking "hmmm...funny tasting kitty-grass". They grew much better once protected from the kitties.
