We finally harvest Emma's favorite Watermelon. It weighed in at a whopping 42 pounds, My son loaded it in my truck and when I got home I could hardly get it out of the truck, so I just sat it in the yard. My GD was right there and guess what................ you guessed it she recognized it!!! I snapped these just so you could continue to enjoy the never ending saga! ( She left before we could cut it so those pics will have to wait)

Yup, Deanna, that would be me, gotta make sure I know where that coffee pot is! I've only moved four times in my adult life, all within a 20 mile radius, so my pressure canner is still in the original box that Grandma got it in. The lid is upside down on the canner in the box so the gauge is inside the canner itself. I still get it checked by the Extension Service, thankfully they still do that here. Annie

Thanks for the tips. Yes, she showed up and yes, she drank but she didn't get drunk. She was drinking lite beer and only brought a six-pack so that was great. The night turned out to be quite nice and everyone seemed to have a good time. I made it BYOB (that's how we have all of our parties b/c everyone likes something different and it gets very expensive for the hosts, for foursome dinner parties we wouldn't dream of that...we supply then) and it turned out fine. I think she felt a little odd when she looked around and saw that everyone was part of a couple but her. But, we included her in on everything and I was the perfectly mannered hostess! HA! Thanks again!!!!

My parents came here in the late 50's ( almost 20 years old) & stopped speaking Hungarian. Right before my dad passed away; I had gotten him in touch with his brother; he did not think he would remember enough to speak to him. I also had someone translate a letter; my dad said he couldn't write in Hungarian any more. I was going to use the online translators but found they don't work for their type of Hungarian. My dad told me that it was the most difficult language & English was so much easier.

I went to Mexico on a mission trip several years ago. In addition to "don't drink the water" we were sternly warned to NOT consume any fresh vegetables.
I have heard that this is commonly used as fertilizer in some other countries. Makes you wonder why E.Coli, Salmonella, etc. is showing up recently in such innocuous foods such as spinach etc......

It's something to think about in emergencies like 9/11 or when your pipes freeze, your septic tanks banks up into your bathtub and you can't figure out how to fix it, and for camping for long periods of time. Fore when your plumbing is just broke and you can't find out what's wrong. It could be very useful, but I wouldn't grow a root vegetable in it for sure. Maybe use on ornamental trees just to get rid of it. You hold the power of information in your hands, do what you will with it.

If anyone cares for the word of experience, I've been composting human effluent and using it as fertilizer for crops for a dozen years without any incident or problem.
