How much should I thin my container crop?

I seeded my container garden pretty heavy and now I have 12" pots with about 20 cucumber, 15 long bean, 10 green bean, 10 tomato, etc.in each of them.

How many can I keep in each pot? I am going to let them climb up a wire cone from a garden store. I want to maximize my crop. Should I let them all grow? Is "more the merrier"? with veggie crops or should I thin them down to 2 to 3 per container? If so, how should I select the ones to destroy? Do I uproot them or just cut them off at ground level?

I have pics to post if I could figure out how to do it.
