Your wife is right. You should not grow tea roses but you can grow hybrid tea roses which are not the same. Tea roses will not survive our cold winters. Hybrid teas, with proper winter protection, will survive. You do understand there is a big difference between the two types? In any cold winter growing zone it's wise to grow hardy varieties suited for your climate. I grow 400 roses that require little more than a few leaves for winter protection. They include a number of hybrid teas and some 30 climbers and all are repeat blooming. While many die back and require severe pruning, some require little or none even after a harsh winter. My growing zone is 5a meaning the average low temp is minus 15 to 20. It's been a number of years since the lowest winter temps have gone below minus 10, here.

I live in Mandeville,Louisiana and looking for antique garden roses. I have gardenias already rooted,tea hybrid already rooted(yellow and red)and pink knockouts to trade.
