From your home page I could not tell where you live but I would be very interested if i had a greenhouse to put them, but from what I read here in zone 5 they would be a container plant that I would have to move around. All sounds great. Question: Do you lay the tape flat? Is the tape folded over with the seed inside? Do the roots go through the lower layer to get to soil, or do they fan out growing between the two layers? Does this slow them down if they are laying on top of a paper layer? How about the shout going up. If there is a paper layer over the top of the seed, can the new shout push up through this layer of paper, or do they go sideways looking for a chance to go up freely? As they push up do they push the paper up on top of the shout? It seems that if the seeds are between two layers of paper, it would change their growth shape.

Haitihelper, I have some hard questions for you. 1. Are you sending these seeds to rural people? Seed saving is one of the most basic of all farming skills. Do they not have a supply of seeds of those varieties which grow best there? 2. Do they know how to grow the seeds? 3. Do they have land and water and fertilizer? 4. Do they have fuel to cook their food? My understanding is that the island is nearly stripped of trees and brush for firewood. 5. Haiti is in the process of environmental collapse, but still has one of the highest birth rates on Earth (35 per 1000 per year). Will seeds help in a hopelessly overpopulated nation? If you think I am picking on the people of Haiti, let me add this: there are many nations on Earth that have completely unsustainable lifestyles, and the USA is one of the worst. But Haiti is further along the road to ruin than most, because their natural resources are exhausted. So the questions I am asking are purely scientific. If seeds are not the limiting factor in food production, then a large quantity of donated seeds will not help. You have been there. Can you enlighten us?
