Container Planting - Dogwood & Red Bud - Which soil?

Hello - Was told to move my question to this forum. Below is my original question, keep in mind I have large enough containers already (like 30") so just what to put around the tree roots is my question...

*****

I bought two baby trees - a Kousa Dogwood (3' tall) and a Purple Red Bud (6' tall), both have roots only about 6" diameter. I want to put them in containers to live for the next couple years while they grow a bit. I hope to move to a new house and then put them in the ground there.

I have large containers ready, but I am wondering what is the best way to prepare the soil (or whatever it's called when it's not exactly soil) for the containers?

Just got a Japanese Maple -Bloodgood- and I was advised to only put

FINE PINE BARK mulch

into the container and nothing else.

Would it be ok to do the same for the Red Bud and Dogwood?
