Hi Sue,

I am planning on 'exhibiting' for the first time in 2009. I am planning on exhibiting in the Washington Daffodil Society Show and perhaps the Virginia Daffodil Society show.

In addition, I am going to try to attend the daffodil days festival in Gloucester and visit the daffodil display garden at the Lynchburg cemetery.

Sure will Verti, even if it is just to let you all know I came home winless, but did muster up the courage to at least show for the first time.

I see one of your links led to Full Information Brochure covering the rules and divisions. I see also there is going to be a display by Brent and Becky's Bulbs. I'll bet this is spectacular!

I think I may have asked before...will there be someone who will be available to assist you since you are a first timer?

Did you know that the night before, a light its strategically placed on blooms that will be shown, to draw their bloom upward? That is why most all of the blooms are facing straight out at you.

See how most of these are for the most part, looking straight forward as opposed to downward like they might be in the garden.

A local friend was telling me about going to a show out of town and had an overnight stay. She placed a light on the blooms, wanting to draw them up, but fell asleep and left the light on above them all night. When she awoke the next morning, they were all looking toward the ceiling, so more light training was then needed to bring the blooms down some.

Sue, why not come East and attend the bulb festival? There are lots of tourist opportunities in the area. Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Virginia Beach, Washington DC. It doesn't get much better than springtime in Virginia.

I do have someone who has offered to coach me. I am very fortunate that the first vice-president of the American Daffodil Society has taken me under her wing. She also shared a few of her bulbs with me. Daffy people are the best!
