Forcing bulbs..they're ready!

I put eight gladiola bulbs in the fridge in July and just took them out about a week ago. So far, so good! I had four bulbs in one pot and I now have six good sized shoots coming up, the tallest is about 7". Two more are sending up shoots in a separate pot. Is there anything I can do to encourage blooming? I have tried to grow from seed in the past and failed - I live in a NYC apartment, and the stems were very light and etiolated - they never flowered, and probably were designed to be outdoors, as are bulbs, I assume. I am growing the bulbs as temporary houseplants. I'd love to see flowers...I have them in a south window. If there is anything I can do or add to help them along, I'd love to hear it!
