Snow and dark days dampening your spirits? These ideas will have you looking on the bright side
Full StoryI want to force bulbs with my son's kindergarten class. I was going to use mini daffodils, Hawera. Do they need to be chilled? The stores are all sold out of paperwhites, and amaryllis are too expensive.
The classroom is too warm for any chill, and taking them away and bringing them back in a few months sort of defeats the purpose for these little guys. I'm trying to show results quickly, because that's the way these little guys work.
I know I used to grow daffodils in California, and the ground there never gets too cold, so I was hoping with these I could skip the chilling period. Tulips, hyacinths, etc. in CA needed chilling in the fridge before planting, but daffs never did.
Any experience?? Thanks!
