It is not usually recommended that the seed of Dusty Miller be collected, as the offspring are not likely to produce true from seed. If you've purchased a favorite cultivar, your best bet is to take some stem cuttings and pot them up. They root very readily, even at this time of year.

Dusty Miller is a perennial plant with surprising hardiness, and with some protection, may even survive the winters of SW Michigan!

BUT! To answer your question...allow the flower head to ripen (dry) on the plant and then collect the whole thing before it falls apart. You'll find the seeds among the dried petals, etc.

I never realized it was a perennial- I'll take them inside, I have an unheated "sun" room, (I keep a lighted bulb 'on' on coldest nights)
I keep my begonias, and geraniums in over winter, the Dusty Miller will be fine in there. I sort of bought it by accident, but I love the way it looks in my green-on-green garden.
