Melon spacing on a trellis (How close can I space them?)

I am going try try and grow melons on a trellis this year. I haven't figured out exactly which variety I want to grow just yet.

I have a 5 feet wide by 8 feet tall trellis that I can use. The bed is 5 feet wide by 4 feet deep (front to back). I plan to plant some pepper plants in front of the melons. The peppers only take up the front 2 feet of the bed.

I was thinking of trying three melon plants that I plan to trim to two vines each. Will this fit on my trellis? Could I do 4 or 5 melon plants if trimmed this way. That would be even better:) Then I could plant two varieties of melon.

Right now I would like to try Burpee's Early Crenshaw based on what I have read in this forum. I would also be interested in a Honey Dew type melon as well.

Thanks for any advice.
